Rev. Thomas V. Arnao appointed pastor

On February 27th, Rev. Msgr. Bauhoff announced that Bishop William Murphy accepted Father Bauhoff's application for the pastorate of Our Lady Queen of Martyrs Church in Centerport, N.Y. Bishop William Murphy has appointed Father Thomas V. Arnao as the next and fourth pastor of Our Lady of Hope Church, effective June 23rd, 2010.

Father Arnao was ordained in 1982. Currently he is the Adjutant Judicial Vicar of the Diocesan Marriage Tribunal and is resident at St. Joseph's Church in Hewlett. Father Arnao was appointed to the Tribunal in 1993. In 1997, Father began his Doctoral Studies in Canon Law in Rome. Father Arnao returned to the Tribunal in 1999 with the JCD in Canon Law.

Father Arnao is no stranger to Our Lady of Hope, having assisted here during Rev. Msgr. Midura's call to service during the Gulf War.

The staff and parishioners of Our Lady of Hope welcome Father Arnao and pray for his ministry here. In addition, the parish wishes to thank Msgr. Bauhoff for his leadership and service as our pastor and we wish him well and pray for his ministry at Our Lady Queen of Martyrs parish.

22nd Anniversary Celebration

On Friday Evening, June 19th, 2009, approximately 75 people of all ages gathered for a Dessert Party in Msgr. Midura Hall to celebrate the 22nd anniversary of the parish. Everyone enjoyed the desserts and one another's company. Thanks to the Pastoral Council members for organizing and hosting the gathering, to the volunteers and to all who attended. Thanks also to Tamara Musella for designing and creating the beautiful Marian theme quilt. A good time was had by all.

Religious Education Program Administrator Appointed

Mrs. Donna Manley recently announced her retirement as administrator of the Religious Education Program at Our Lady of Hope. Mrs. Manley has served in this position for nine years and Msgr. Bauhoff, in the name of all parishioners, expressed thanks for and recognition of, her dedicated, professional direction and assistance. Mrs. Manley was very helpful to our new pastor during last year's transition of pastors, familiarizing him with the particulars of the parish's program. In the words of Msgr. Bauhoff, Donna, we wish you well in your retirement and once again, we thank you for your faithful, generous and loyal ministry to the young people of our parish.

Replacing Mrs. Manley will be Mrs. Tricia Powers. Tricia has taught in the parochial school system and is also a catechist in her home parish. We all join with Msgr. Bauhoff in welcoming Tricia to our staff.
